Description

American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with NICU and PICU experience for a 13-week night shift travel assignment in Houston, TX.

Details

  • Cardiopulmonary unit (4th floor) at a women's hospital in Houston, TX
  • PICU and NICU patient population, including Level 3 NICU and pediatric critical care; adult-only experience is not sufficient
  • Patient ratio of 7:1
  • Equipment includes Crossvent, Airvo, Bunnell Jet, Drager VN500, Hamilton G5, Evolve Nitric Oxide, Pneuton, and Oscillator
  • Common procedures include intubations, surfactant administration, and delivery room support
  • Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
  • 13-week assignment
  • 4 weekend shifts required per 4-week schedule
  • Floating to Adult ICU, general floors, Level 2 NICU, Level 3 NICU, Level 4 NICU, PICU, and Peds units

Requirements

  • Active RRT license and certification required; license required if applicable
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in the specialty, with active experience within the past 6 months
  • Level 3 NICU or pediatric critical care experience required
  • Delivery room experience required
  • Required certifications: NRP (Advanced 9th Edition, from American Academy of Pediatrics), ACLS, PALS, and BLS (AHA or ARC accepted; no certifications expiring within the first 30 days of the assignment start)
  • PALS preferred if not already listed as required
  • Adult experience is a plus but not required
  • No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
  • Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility; local candidates are not eligible
  • US SSN and date of birth required for consideration
  • One professional reference required (two required for candidates licensed in Florida or Missouri)

Additional Information

  • Responsibilities include providing respiratory therapy to critically ill neonatal and pediatric patients, including bedside procedures in the NICU and PICU
  • Fast-paced environment requiring candidates who are quick learners and adaptable
  • Gray monogrammed scrubs required
  • Candidates must be clocked in and ready for report no later than 6:37 AM / 6:37 PM
