American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a CVICU position at a Magnet-designated academic medical center in Madison, WI, requiring CVICU experience and Epic proficiency.

CVICU (Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit) in a Magnet-designated academic teaching hospital and major referral center in Madison, WI
-
Acuity adaptable unit caring for patients undergoing cardiac and thoracic surgeries, heart and/or lung transplants, and requiring specialized medical devices
-
NextStage CVVH machine is utilized on this unit
-
Epic EMR is used; experience required, preferably within the last 12 months
-
Rotating day and night shifts available: days 7:00–19:30 and nights 19:00–7:30 (3x12-hour shifts)
-
Every other weekend required
-
Some holiday coverage required
-
No on-call responsibilities
-
Travelers are first to float and may be scheduled across multiple units or locations based on staffing needs

Active WI RN license or compact RN license from permanent address state
-
Current BLS and ACLS certifications through the American Heart Association (AHA) only
-
Minimum 2 years of acute care experience within the last 3 years
-
CVICU experience required
-
Hands-on experience and working knowledge of the NextStage CVVH machine required

Basic arrhythmia/telemetry experience required; candidates must pass a telemetry test prior to starting

Experience in cardiothoracic surgery and/or an acuity adaptable unit preferred
-
Permanent address must be located more than 50 miles from the primary work site to be eligible
-
Provide specialized nursing care to patients undergoing cardiac and thoracic surgeries, transplants, and procedures requiring advanced medical devices
-
Deliver care with a balance of technological expertise and patient- and family-centered communication
-
Work as an integral part of the Cardiothoracic Surgery and Transplant team on an acuity adaptable unit
-
If the primary department no longer has a staffing need, shifts will be reassigned to another department for the duration of the contract
-
Parking on-site requires a permit through UW Transportation; bus, park-and-ride, and private parking options are also available
