American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a CVICU position requiring a minimum of 2 years of CVICU experience, with night shift availability and on-call responsibilities.

Work in a 6-bed CVICU within a hospital setting
-
Patient population includes post-op cardiac surgery (CABG, MVR, AVR), cardiac surgery re-admissions/ICU bounce-backs, structural heart procedures (TAVR, mitral clips), STEMI/NSTEMI, cardiogenic shock, Inari procedures, and pre-op patients on hospital intensivist list

Specialized procedures and equipment include inotropic medications, hemodynamic monitoring, open chest management, OHS/Impella, ECMO (with perfusionist on-site), CRRT (with dialysis on-site), IABP, and extreme coagulopathy management

Average daily census of 3–5 patients with a 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratio

Schedule is 3x12-hour night shifts (19:00–07:30) with the possibility of rotating to day shifts (07:00–19:30)

Every third weekend is required

Holidays required as scheduled

On-call required for 24–32 hours per rotating 8-week schedule

Floating to the MSICU required as needed

Local candidates are accepted

Active RN license in Maryland (MD state license) or a qualifying Compact license
-
Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS), and Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI)

Preferred certifications: OCN and TCNN

Minimum 2 years of CVICU experience required

First-time travelers with CVICU experience are welcome to apply

Manage critically ill cardiac patients during the first 6 hours post-op, including active cardiac output management, hemodynamic instability, and complex device support

Any time-off requests should be disclosed at the time of initial application

Holiday coverage is required as shifts fall on the schedule
