Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an Emergency Department position in Alaska, requiring an active Alaska RN license and ED experience.

Details

• Emergency Department (ED) setting in a hospital environment
• Patients of all ages including pediatric, adult, and geriatric populations
• Variable shift schedule, with both day and night shifts available
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active, full, and unrestricted Alaska RN license required at time of consideration
• Current BLS and PALS required; ACLS must be obtained within 6 months of hire
• Minimum 1 year of clinical nursing experience preferred, with prior ED experience preferred
• Proficiency with emergency procedures such as intubation, arterial line setup, ABG puncture, thoracentesis, and lavage
• Competency with basic and specialty medical equipment including defibrillators, monitors, EKG machines, ventilators, and chest tube setup
• Flu vaccination required

Additional Information

• Provides comprehensive nursing care to ED patients across all age groups, including assessment, care planning, implementation, and evaluation
• Responsible for independent clinical decision-making during shifts, with accountability for all actions taken
• Performs proper delegation and supervision of CNAs and Techs
• Acts as a Contact RN when assigned, leading RNs and CNAs during the shift
• Assists in orientation of new staff, travelers, and students
• Required to attend and participate in at least 50% of departmental staff meetings
• Must comply with facility dress code
• TNCC/ATCN and NRP certification may be required depending on specialty area, within the first 6 months
• Start date will be no less than 5 weeks after fingerprint cards are received for processing
