Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position requiring a minimum of 2 years of ED experience, with night shift hours and regional floating requirements.

Details

  • Work in a 43-bed Emergency Department within a 337-bed hospital that is a designated Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center, but holds no trauma designation and is not a teaching hospital
  • Patient population spans pediatric to geriatric ages, with common presentations including stroke, acute MI, respiratory illness, behavioral health, minor and major trauma stabilization, and uncontrolled diabetes
  • Includes 8 Clinical Decision beds dedicated to Behavioral Health (unlocked) and 4 additional beds used for holding or FSED admissions
  • Average daily census of approximately 145 patients with a 25–30% admission rate
  • RN-to-patient ratio of 1:3–4 based on acuity
  • 12-hour night shifts, 1900–0700, at 48 hours per week
  • Every other weekend rotation required
  • Travelers are expected to work 75% of assigned holidays
  • No on-call or call-back requirements
  • Floating is required across Region 2 facilities, including Pineville, Anson, Union, Union West, any Freestanding ED within the region, and the Central Division (CMC Main, CMC Mercy, and Levine Children's Hospital) — candidates must be agreeable to this requirement
  • EMR: Epic (experience required)
  • Equipment includes Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, Philips monitors, Rover Communication, Panda Infant Warmer, and LUCAS device

Requirements

  • Active RN license in NC or a compact state currently in hand
  • Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, and CPI
  • TNCC preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department RN experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
  • General ED skillset required, including cardiac rhythm interpretation, critical care drip management, PIV starts, TNK/TPA administration, and conscious sedation
  • Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
  • Minimum of 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

Additional Information

  • First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
  • Candidates must have a permanent address at least 50 miles from the facility; local candidates are not accepted
  • Former permanent employees of any AHSE facility must have been separated for at least 1 year before being eligible
  • Department support includes CNAs/Unit Coordinators, paramedics, a free-floating charge nurse, patient safety attendants, a dedicated ED pharmacist (7a–11p), social worker, RT (24/7), ED physicians and APPs, a geriatric APP, hospitalist (24/7), and intensivist (24/7)
  • Orientation includes a New Employee Orientation (NEO) plus 2 days of departmental orientation
  • Required scrub color: Navy Blue
