Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position requiring at least 1 year of ER experience, with night shifts and a patient population spanning infants to geriatrics.

Details

  • Work setting is a hospital Emergency Department with 46 rooms and an average daily census of 135 patients
  • Patient population spans infants to geriatrics in a general ER setting
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4
  • EMR system is Epic; also uses Pyxis for medication management and SBAR for communication
  • Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:00)
  • Every other weekend required
  • Floating may be required, potentially to a sister campus
  • No on-call requirements

Requirements

  • Active GA or Compact RN license required at time of consideration
  • Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and PALS
  • Minimum 1 year of Emergency Department experience required
  • General ER experience required

Additional Information

  • First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
  • Local candidates are accepted
  • Navy blue scrubs required
  • RTO is capped at 7 days; RTO cannot be requested during the first week of the assignment
  • Holiday coverage policy: if one or two major holidays fall within the assignment period, travelers are expected to work all of them with no holiday RTO permitted; if three major holidays fall within the assignment period, travelers are expected to work two of them and may request one holiday off
  • Major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Christmas Day, and New Year's Eve/New Year's Day
  • No schedule change requests or alternate shift arrangements are permitted — the posted night shift is firm
  • Travelers must have been away from all facilities within this health system for a full year before returning as a traveler
  • Two supervisory references (manager level or above; charge nurses not accepted) are strongly preferred
