American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position requiring at least 1 year of ER experience, with night shifts and a patient population spanning infants to geriatrics.

Work setting is a hospital Emergency Department with 46 rooms and an average daily census of 135 patients
-
Patient population spans infants to geriatrics in a general ER setting

Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4
-
EMR system is Epic; also uses Pyxis for medication management and SBAR for communication
-
Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:00)

Every other weekend required
-
Floating may be required, potentially to a sister campus
-
No on-call requirements

Active GA or Compact RN license required at time of consideration

Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and PALS
-
Minimum 1 year of Emergency Department experience required

General ER experience required

First-time travelers will not be considered for this position

Local candidates are accepted

Navy blue scrubs required

RTO is capped at 7 days; RTO cannot be requested during the first week of the assignment

Holiday coverage policy: if one or two major holidays fall within the assignment period, travelers are expected to work all of them with no holiday RTO permitted; if three major holidays fall within the assignment period, travelers are expected to work two of them and may request one holiday off

Major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Christmas Day, and New Year's Eve/New Year's Day

No schedule change requests or alternate shift arrangements are permitted — the posted night shift is firm

Travelers must have been away from all facilities within this health system for a full year before returning as a traveler

Two supervisory references (manager level or above; charge nurses not accepted) are strongly preferred
