Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Center position requiring a minimum of 2 years of acute care ER experience, MEDITECH proficiency, and a GA or compact RN license.

Details

  • Acute care hospital Emergency Center (ER) setting
  • Department features 25 monitored beds, 6 fast treatment beds, 6 fast treatment chairs, 2 trauma bays, a recess bay, a dedicated stroke room, and a 4-bed behavioral lockdown area staffed by psych
  • Fast track area designated for less acute patients, with screening of non-emergent patients to community care clinic
  • Serves a broad patient population from pediatrics to geriatrics, including trauma, neuro (with some neuro trauma transferred out), ortho, and CVA cases — no burn patients kept on site
  • Approximately 140 patient visits per day
  • Patient ratio of 1:4
  • Night shift, 12-hour shifts
  • Every 3rd or 4th weekend required
  • Every other holiday required
  • Charting system: MEDITECH 6.15 (experience required)
  • Nurses perform own lab draws and IV starts
  • RT available 24/7 and dedicated to the ER
  • Pharmacy in-department 11 hours per day and on campus 24/7
  • Central monitoring tech on staff
  • Nurse aides and paramedics on staff (2–3 per shift), security, and safety sitters available
  • ED staffing includes at least 2 MDs at all times (up to 3–4 based on time of day) and a midlevel 24/7 with an additional midlevel from 9am–9pm
  • Ventilator patients held in the ER until admitted

Requirements

  • Active GA or compact RN license required
  • Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, PALS, CPI, and NIHSS; TNCC preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of ER experience in an acute care setting required; 5+ years preferred
  • MEDITECH 6.15 experience required
  • Travel experience or 5+ years in a Level 1 Trauma Facility highly preferred
  • Experience with Alaris pumps preferred
  • Driver's license required for consideration — address on DL must reflect residence 75+ miles from the facility
  • Candidates who have been employed by this facility within the last 12 months are not eligible

Additional Information

  • Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility, as determined by the address on their driver's license
  • Candidates are required to complete an online Cardiac Rhythms test (minimum 80% passing score) prior to placement
  • An ESI Triage Exam is administered during orientation; remediation and a second attempt are available if needed
  • Preferred experience with ESI triage or similar triage systems
  • Floor-specific orientation is 1–2 shifts depending on comfort level
  • Scrub color: Caribbean Blue
  • COVID vaccination is not required, but unvaccinated candidates must be willing to undergo weekly testing
  • Candidates with a preference for a clinical interview vs. an auto-offer based on profile review should indicate this preference at the time of consideration
