American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Level III Trauma Emergency Department position requiring at least 2 years of ED experience and night shift availability.

Work in the Emergency Department of a 457-bed, Trauma Level III teaching hospital also designated as a Chest Pain Center, Stroke Center of Excellence, and Bariatric Center of Excellence

Patient population includes trauma cases (GSW, stabbings, MVA, falls), stroke, heart failure, chest pain, COPD, cardiac cath pre-op, ETOH/CIWA, IVDA, mental health, respiratory illnesses, GI disorders, liver failure, and AKI/CKD
-
RN-to-patient ratio: 1:5 max, acuity dependent

Common procedures include trauma care, stroke management, cardiac rhythm interpretation, conscious sedation, PIV starts, chest tube management, NGT placement, drain/tube management, critical care drips, and blood administration

EMR: Epic
-
Equipment includes Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Philips monitors
-
12-hour night shifts, 7p–7a, 36 hours per week

Every other weekend rotation required

No on-call responsibilities for travelers

Floating may be required to facilities within Region 1, including Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, Lake Norman, freestanding EDs within the region, and Central Division facilities (CMC Main, Mercy, LCH)

Active NC or compact RN license required

Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, and CPI

TNCC preferred
-
Minimum 2 years of ED RN experience required, with most recent experience within the last year

Trauma and stroke experience required
-
Skills required include cardiac rhythm interpretation, conscious sedation, PIV starts, chest tube management, NGT placement, drain/tube management, critical care drips, and blood administration

Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the past year, from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

Departmental support includes CNAs, a Receptionist/HUC, a 24/7 charge nurse, an IV/VAT team, Respiratory Therapy (24/7), Hospitalists (24/7), and ED physicians

Orientation includes facility NEO plus 2 days of departmental orientation

Travelers are expected to work 75% of assigned holidays
-
Up to 6 days of time off may be approved, excluding holidays; if contracted hours cannot be met, time may be added to the end of the contract

Navy scrubs required

Former permanent employees of any AHSE facility must have been separated for at least 1 year before being eligible
