Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a GI/Endoscopy and PACU position in Rapid City, SD, requiring at least 2 years of RN experience and proficiency in advanced endoscopy procedures.

Details

  • Hospital setting at a Level II Trauma Center, Level II Pediatric Trauma Center, Magnet-designated academic teaching hospital with Primary Stroke and Chest Pain Center designation
  • Unit includes 4 Endoscopy rooms, 20 Pre-Op bays, and 14 PACU bays
  • Patient population includes upper and lower endoscopy (EGD, colonoscopy), advanced procedures (EUS, EBUS, ERCP), and pre/post-operative recovery including Phase I and Phase II PACU with some ICU-level care
  • Patient ratios: Endoscopy 1:1, Pre-Op 1:2, PACU Phase I 1:1 or 1:2 based on acuity, PACU Phase II 1:2-3
  • Charting system: Epic (required); equipment includes ION robotic-assisted bronchoscopy, Omnicell, and Alaris
  • 8-hour variable shifts rotating through: 0630–1500, 0730–1600, 0830–1700, and 0900–1800
  • Weekend rotation every 3rd weekend
  • On-call required: one overnight weekday call shift (7p–7a) and every 3rd weekend on call with a 15-minute response time requirement
  • Floating to Pre-Op, PACU, or floor as needed in a helping hands capacity; will not be floated to the Main OR as a primary RN
  • Holiday coverage required for 2 of 4 major holidays

Requirements

  • Active RN license — SD state license or compact RN license currently in hand
  • Current certifications: BLS and ACLS
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience with Level I or Level II trauma experience required
  • Proficiency in advanced endoscopy procedures including EUS, EBUS, and ERCP
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Two references dated within the past year required for consideration
  • DOB and SSN required for consideration
  • Must reside more than 100 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position

Additional Information

  • Anesthesia team provides 100% of sedation; RNs are not responsible for sedation administration
  • Unit support includes RN/Endo Tech team of 6 and dedicated anesthesia coverage
  • Orientation is approximately 1 week
  • On-call sleep accommodations available in the Pre-Op/PACU area or break room couches when unit is closed
  • Scrubs are provided by the facility; free parking is available on-site
  • Time off requests require manager approval; low-census volunteer time off (without pay) may be available
  • Former permanent staff must wait a minimum of 1 full year before returning to the facility as a traveler
  • First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
