American Traveler is seeking a travel RN for a night shift ICU position in Carlsbad, NM, requiring 2+ years of ICU experience and the ability to float to ER and Med-Surg departments.

12-bed ICU unit at an acute care hospital in Carlsbad, NM
-
Patient population includes critically ill patients requiring total care, including ventilator management and titratable drips
-
Patient ratio of 1:2–3 in the ICU

Floating required to the ER and Med-Surg departments on a rotation basis tracked via float log
-
When floating to the ER, duties include answering call lights, passing medications, transporting patients, starting IVs, and drawing blood — no full patient assignment required
-
When floating to Med-Surg, a full patient assignment of up to 6 patients may be required, or the nurse may serve in an aide capacity covering up to 12 patients
-
Night shift: 6:30 PM – 6:30 AM

Any scrub color is acceptable

Active NM or Compact RN license required
-
Current BLS and ACLS certifications required; no certifications may expire within the first 30 days of the assignment start date

Minimum 2 years of recent ICU experience required

ER and Med-Surg experience required due to float requirements

Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification preferred

Experience with ventilators, titratable drips, medication mixing, and patient hygiene preferred

MedHost EMR experience preferred

Valid driver's license required

No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months

Fingerprinting required for all travelers working in New Mexico

Provides total ICU patient care including ventilator management, titratable drip administration, medication mixing, and hygiene care
-
Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible — local travelers are not accepted
-
Holiday coverage is required
-
RTO requests must be for less than one week in duration

Candidates who have worked at any CHS facility as permanent staff within the past 2 years are not eligible for this position
