American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Multi Care Unit (MCU) position requiring at least 2 years of ICU experience, Cerner proficiency, and an active AZ or Compact RN license.

Acute care hospital setting in a 10-bed Multi Care Unit (MCU) that manages all three acuity levels on a single unit — ICU, PCU, and Med/Surg Tele (MST) — without floating between units for primary assignment

Patient population includes medical ICU cases such as sepsis, suicide attempts, drug/alcohol withdrawal, COPD, respiratory arrest, pneumonia, COVID, DKA, post-op complications, and PCU patients on non-titratable infusions

Patient ratios vary by acuity: ICU 1:2, PCU 1:4, MST 1:5-6; if no nurse aide is available, RN takes 3 patients with primary care responsibilities

RNs are required to titrate drips including sedation, vasopressors, and insulin
-
Respiratory therapy supports ventilators, BiPAP, and CPAP on the unit

Telemetry is present; Remote Monitor Techs cover PCU and MST patients; ICU RNs monitor patients via bedside cardiac monitor; RNs must perform 12-lead EKGs

12-hour night shifts (1900–0730)

Every other weekend required (Friday and Saturday for nights)

Holiday rotation applies to distribute holidays fairly

Float requirements include floating to the EC MST and Pediatric unit (adult MST assignments) and to the West Campus ICU/PCU with a minimum two-hour notice before floating

Low census standby rotation in effect

Active AZ or Compact (NLC) RN license required; pending licenses are not accepted

Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required; candidates with 1 year ICU and 1 year PCU/Med-Surg from a larger facility may be considered with strong demonstrated skills

Required certifications: BLS and ACLS (active, non-pending)

Cerner EMR experience required

Ability to titrate drips (sedation, vasopressors, insulin) required

Must pass the Relias Dysrhythmia exam with a score of at least 80% within two attempts prior to contract signing
-
Must pass a sterile technique competency test (Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes) on the first day of orientation
-
Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire

Valid driver's license required for consideration

Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility (permanent address as indicated on driver's license)

Candidates may not have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity-affiliated facility within the past 12 months; candidates employed PRN through outside firms will be considered

Provide ICU, PCU, and MST-level nursing care within a combined acuity unit structure; charge RN oversees 50 inpatient beds including MST, Peds, and the MCU

Nurse aides cover 10–15 patients; when no aide is available, RN assumes primary care for PCU and MST patients

Orientation consists of hospital orientation followed by unit-specific orientation (12 hours total)

Candidates who fail the Relias Dysrhythmia exam or sterile technique test on the second attempt will be ineligible for all CommonSpirit Arizona and Sacramento-region positions for 6 months

A manager interview is required as part of the selection process
