Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN for a night shift CCU position at a Level III trauma-accredited acute care hospital, requiring Epic experience and a minimum of 2 years of ICU experience.

Details

  • 12-bed CCU unit within a 146-bed general acute care hospital serving a broad regional population across Virginia, West Virginia, North Carolina, and Tennessee
  • Diverse medical and surgical patient population including respiratory failure, COPD exacerbations, pneumonia, DKA, vascular and general surgery, chest pain, encephalopathy, drug overdose, renal failure, and sepsis
  • Standard nurse-to-patient ratio of 2:1
  • Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 7p–7a
  • Weekend requirement: every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts per 6-week scheduling block
  • One holiday shift required per 13-week contract
  • Floating within skillset required
  • Epic EMR experience required

Requirements

  • Active VA state RN license or Compact RN license required; pending license accepted only if candidate holds a single-state license from a non-compact state
  • Required certifications: BLS and ACLS
  • Preferred certifications: NIHSS and CCRN
  • Minimum 2 years of ICU experience preferred
  • Proficiency in IV therapy including arterial line management, central/PICC line care, blood product administration, and IV initiation and maintenance
  • Respiratory support skills including BiPAP/CPAP management, ventilated patient care, and assistance with chest tube insertion/removal
  • Experience managing continuous IV sedation, emergency medications, and titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips
  • Experience with IV insulin protocol adherence
  • Ability to manage ventilated patients, arterial lines, multiple drips, and pressure support, and assist providers at the bedside with procedures
  • Experience at a large Level I or II facility preferred
  • Valid driver's license and Social Security card required for consideration
  • Two professional references required for consideration

  • Located in Christiansburg, VA, part of the Carilion Clinic Health System
  • Level III trauma-accredited acute care facility
  • Candidates must reside outside the facility's local radius to qualify for this position
