Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an oncology/surgical ICU position requiring at least 1 year of ICU experience, Trauma Level II facility background, and chemotherapy certification.

Details

  • Work in an oncology ICU that also houses a MICU, with a focus on surgical patients including thoracic surgeries, skin flaps, chest tube management, and esophagectomies
  • ICU nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:2; MICU float ratio of 1:4
  • Average daily census of 12 patients across 21 rooms and 25 beds
  • Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00–19:30), with weekends on an as-needed basis
  • Schedule is set by the manager
  • Floating within areas of competency is possible, including to the MICU
  • Uses Epic for documentation, Pyxis for medication management, and SBAR for communication
  • Tablo dialysis system used for dialysis patients
  • 12-hour on-floor orientation provided
  • Black scrubs required (not provided by the facility)

Requirements

  • Active GA or compact RN license required
  • Current certifications required: BLS (AHA only, no HeartCode acceptable), ACLS, and Chemotherapy (CHEMO) Certification
  • Preferred certifications: NIH Stroke Scale, OCN, TNCC
  • Minimum 1 year of ICU experience required
  • Trauma Level II facility experience required
  • Experience in a teaching hospital, community hospital, LTAC, and/or Trauma Level I facility is a plus
  • Required skills and experience: dysrhythmia interpretation and management, multi-system organ failure, chronic/acute renal failure, CVVHD/CRRT, accessing ports, blood product administration, central line care/management, PICC line management, IV starts, continuous IV sedation, emergency medications, titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips, chemotherapy administration, chest tube insertion/removal assistance, care of ventilated patients, HFNC, ABG interpretation, ETT/NT suctioning, ventilator management, infection prevention, isolation precautions/PPE, phlebotomy, and surgical wound/drain/wound vac care
  • Preferred skills and experience: Neuro ICU, Surgical ICU, FloTrac/Vigileo monitoring, 12-lead EKG acquisition, CABG, ECMO, intra-aortic balloon pump, Impella, pulmonary artery/Swan-Ganz monitoring, ventricular assist devices (LVAD/RVAD), IV insulin protocols, arterial line management, continuous IV paralytics/neuromuscular blockade, procedural sedation, CVA/acute stroke management, EVD, hypothermia protocol/Arctic Sun, ICP monitoring, lumbar drains, and BiPAP/CPAP management
