Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position in the Los Angeles area, requiring a minimum of 3 years of experience and AWHONN Advanced certification.

Details

  • 13-week contract on the Labor & Delivery unit of an acute care hospital
  • Unit includes 4 Triage beds, 11 LDR rooms, 2 OR suites, NICU, and Post-Partum
  • Supported by 24-hour OB hospitalist and OB anesthesia coverage
  • Cares for low and high-risk L&D patients across neonate, adolescent, and adult populations
  • Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30)
  • Requires 4 weekend shifts per month (Friday or Saturday nights)
  • On-call is voluntary; may be placed on call if not needed for a scheduled shift
  • Floating to the Perinatal unit may be required
  • EMR: Allscripts (eMDs); also uses Omnicell and SBAR communication framework

Requirements

  • Active CA RN license required
  • Current certifications required: AHA BLS, ACLS, NRP, and AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring
  • Minimum 3 years of L&D RN experience required
  • Proficiency with external fetal monitoring and recognition/treatment of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns
  • Experience circulating for C-sections required
  • 2 professional supervisory references from within the past 2 years required for consideration
  • Full 7-year work history with all gaps explained required for consideration

Additional Information

  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Must be available to work most holidays; only 1 holiday RTO request may be submitted and approval is not guaranteed
  • No time off (RTO) permitted during the first two weeks of the assignment
  • Maximum of 3 days RTO for the duration of the contract
  • All RTO requests must be finalized upfront, as submitted dates cannot be modified — only cancellations are permitted
