American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position at an acute care hospital in California, requiring Cerner experience and advanced fetal monitoring certification.

Acute care hospital Labor & Delivery unit averaging approximately 300 deliveries per month
-
Unit includes 2 OB ED beds, 4 antepartum rooms, 9 labor rooms, and 2 ORs
-
High-risk OB patient population including patients with multiple co-morbidities, multiple births, and a high volume of surrogates; no neonatal surgeries performed at this facility

Nurse-to-patient ratios follow state and AWHONN guidelines
-
OB techs (2 per shift) available to scrub C-sections
-
Charting via Cerner EMR; also uses Fetal Link and HUGS security system
-
12-hour day shifts (7a–7p)
-
Every other weekend required, with potential for additional weekend shifts depending on rotation
-
Holiday coverage required for 2 out of 3 major holidays
-
Travelers are first to float; float destinations include postpartum and NICU
-
No on-call requirements

Active CA RN license (State or Compact/NLC) required; pending licenses not accepted

Minimum 2 years of L&D RN experience required

Required certifications (all must be active; pending not accepted): BLS, ACLS, NRP, and Advanced EFM

Cerner EMR experience required

Strong IV skills required

Driver's license required for consideration

2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire

First-time travelers will not be considered

Unit follows a baby-friendly care model with emphasis on first-hour skin-to-skin contact and perinatal initiative documentation
-
NICU nurse and RT attend all high-risk deliveries
-
Laborist and anesthesia are in-house 24/7; RT and pharmacy also available 24/7
-
Ventilators are available for mothers and babies, but patients requiring ongoing ventilator support are transferred to a higher level of care
-
Floor-specific orientation consists of 2 shifts; all required online modules (MyJourney) must be completed prior to arrival — no exceptions

Candidates must not have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity Health facility within the past year; candidates placed PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered
