American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an OB/Postpartum unit position requiring at least 2 years of OB/PEDS experience, active MN licensure, and willingness to float across multiple units including Labor, Nursery, PEDS, and Med-Surg.

Acute care setting at a Level 3 trauma facility

OB/Postpartum unit covering postpartum, stable antepartum, pediatric, newborn, GYN, and Med-Surg overflow patients, with potential 2nd RN responsibilities in the Special Care Nursery (SCN)

Average daily census includes approximately 5 mom/baby couplets, 2 pediatric patients, 1 GYN patient, 2 labor patients, and 4 SCN patients

Nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:3 for mom/baby couplets, 1:3–4 for pediatrics, and 1:5 for GYN/Med-Surg patients

Support staff include a ward clerk (0700–1900), CNA (Tuesday–Thursday), Charge Nurse/Circulator, Resource Nurse, and LPN Scrub Nurse — all without patient assignments

Rotating 12-hour day/night shifts with approximately 50/50 day-to-night split over a 6-week schedule

Every 3rd weekend required

Floating required to Labor, Postpartum, Nursery, PEDS, and occasionally Med-Surg and Telemetry

EMR: Epic (Epic One Chart); experience preferred

Equipment used includes Acudose, Philips Vitals Machines, Bladder Scanner, Medela Breast Pumps, Responder 5 Call Light System, and Medfusion Pumps

13-week contract

Active MN RN license required
-
Required certifications: BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), and NRP; PALS preferred

Minimum 2 years of OB/PEDS nursing experience required

Epic EMR experience preferred; other EMR experience will be considered

Must be willing and able to float to Labor, Postpartum, Nursery, PEDS, Med-Surg, and Telemetry units
-
Two current references required: one from a supervisor within the last 12 months of relevant experience, and one from a peer or supervisor in the same specialty within the last 3 years
-
All certifications must be active at time of consideration — no pending certifications accepted

BSN not required

Provide nursing care across OB/Postpartum, Labor, Nursery, PEDS, GYN, and Med-Surg overflow as needed

Navy scrubs required

Orientation consists of equipment and unit-specific training on the first day (8 hours)

Candidates with a permanent address within 80 miles of the facility are considered local and may be subject to an adjusted pay rate

Schedule transitions between days and nights are managed with at least 1 week between shift swaps when possible
