Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg - Urology/Nephrology position at a Level I Trauma, Magnet-designated acute care hospital in Springfield, IL, requiring an active IL RN license and a minimum of 2 years of Med/Surg experience.

Details

• Med/Surg unit specializing in Urology and Nephrology patient populations
• 25-bed unit with an average daily census of 23 patients
• Acute care hospital setting — Level I Trauma Center and Magnet-designated facility with 562 staffed beds
• Day shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 6:45 AM – 7:15 PM
• Every other weekend required
• Floating to other Med/Surg units required to meet facility needs
• No on-call responsibilities
• Charting via Cerner EMR

Requirements

• Active IL RN license currently in hand — pending licensure is not accepted
• Current BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg nursing experience required
• Med/Surg and telemetry (remote monitoring) work setting experience required
• Experience with genitourinary/renal cases: pre/post hemodialysis management and renal failure
• Cardiac monitoring skills: telemetry remote monitoring and use of Rapid Response Teams
• IV therapy and phlebotomy skills: blood product administration, central line blood draw, peripheral line care/management, PICC line management, and starting IVs
• Medication experience: Heparin administration
• Respiratory case experience: chest tubes (Emerson/Pleur-evac), CPAP/BiPAP, HFNC, nasal cannula, non-invasive airway management, oral suctioning, and portable oxygen
• Professional skills: isolation precautions and wound care/wound vac
• Cerner EMR experience required

• First-time travelers are welcome — candidates should demonstrate a solid clinical foundation with 2+ years of Med/Surg RN experience
• Local candidates are accepted with no radius restriction
• RTO requests should ideally not exceed 5 days for the duration of the assignment — all requests must be submitted upfront
• Any solid color scrubs are acceptable
• Free parking is available on-site with a permit obtained during orientation
• 2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years are required for consideration
