Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Surgical unit (T7) position requiring Epic EMR experience and Level 1 Trauma background, with day shift hours in an Illinois hospital setting.

Details

• Hospital surgical unit (T7) caring for a complex post-operative patient population
• Provides care for patients with tracheostomies, wound vacs, complex wound management, and new ostomies
• Collaborates with general surgical and oral & maxillofacial surgery (OMFS) residency services
• Day shift schedule: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM, 3 days per week (36 hours/week)
• On-call required on a rotation basis
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active IL RN license in good standing (temporary license accepted)
• Current BLS certification (American Heart Association)
• Minimum 1 year of relevant RN experience
• Epic EMR experience required
• Level 1 Trauma experience required
• Associate's degree in Nursing (ASN) required; BSN preferred
• English proficiency required (speaking, reading, and writing)

Additional Information

• Performs comprehensive patient assessments, develops and modifies plans of care, and implements nursing interventions throughout the post-operative phase
• Responsible for accurate and up-to-date nursing documentation to support the healthcare team
• Patient and family education on new ostomies and other post-operative care needs
• Contributes to peer development and engages in ongoing professional learning
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not eligible
• RTO is limited to no more than 7 days per 13-week contract
• Travelers who have been on continuous assignment at this health system for 1 year must either convert to permanent employment or take a 6-month break before returning to any facility within the system
