Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg position requiring Epic proficiency and charge nurse responsibilities on night shifts.

Details

  • Inpatient Med/Surg unit at a hospital setting
  • Adult and geriatric general Med/Surg patient population with a daily census of approximately 43
  • Patient ratio of 1:6–7
  • Procedures include insulin drips, heparin drips, wound vac dressing changes, high flow oxygen, and occasional short-term BiPAP with respiratory support — no additional training required
  • No PCU-level patients on this unit
  • Documents and communicates using Epic (PYXIS), and SBAR
  • 12-hour night shifts, 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM
  • 36 or 48 hours per week accepted
  • Charge nurse role is required for night shift travelers
  • Assigned to every other weekend
  • Holiday coverage is required
  • On-call required for pre-scheduled call shifts
  • Floating to similar units and alternate care locations with inpatient holds required
  • 13–26 week contracts accepted

Requirements

  • Active NC or Compact RN license
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Ability to manage insulin and heparin drips
  • Current BLS certification required
  • Must pass EKG testing prior to start
  • 2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration
  • NC State Board of Nursing License Verification and NURSYS Verification required for consideration

Additional Information

  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Local candidates are accepted
  • Charge nurse experience preferred; CPI certification preferred
  • Travelers may be assigned to an Inclement Weather Team and may be required to report to work during storms, hurricanes, catastrophic events, mass casualty incidents, or disasters
  • Consolidation to a centralized office mid-contract is possible, with travelers potentially reassigned to units as needed
  • May occasionally care for COVID-positive patients
  • Unit orientation is 24 hours
  • Navy scrubs required; scrubs are not provided
  • No RTO is permitted after booking — unplanned call-offs or additional time-off requests may result in contract cancellation
