Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Med/Surg position at a Level II Trauma acute care hospital in Illinois, requiring a minimum of 2 years of experience and proficiency with Cerner.

Details

• Acute care hospital setting with 372 staffed beds and a Level II Trauma designation
• Medical Surgical unit with an average daily census of 35 patients
• Day shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts (0600–1830)
• Every other weekend required
• Floating required within the hospital or to a nearby affiliate hospital
• No on-call requirements
• Charting via Cerner (experience required)
• Schedule requests can be discussed with the manager

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required, or must be in the application process with an ETA to apply
• Active BLS certification required (AHA or Red Cross accepted; RQI AHA cards not accepted)
• Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg RN experience required
• Cardiac monitoring and emergency response experience required: telemetry remote monitoring and use of Rapid Response Teams
• Gastrointestinal case skills required: colostomy care and feeding tube care and management
• Genitourinary/renal case skills required: pre/post hemodialysis management and renal failure
• IV therapy and phlebotomy skills required: accessing ports, blood product administration, central line blood draw, peripheral line care/management, PICC line management, and starting IVs
• Medication administration experience required: heparin, insulin, and PCA
• Respiratory case skills required: CPAP/BiPAP, HFNC, nasal cannula, non-invasive airway management, oral suctioning, oxygen face masks, portable oxygen tank, and tracheostomy management
• Additional skills required: isolation precautions and wound care/wound vac
• Cerner EMR experience required
• SSN and DOB required for consideration

Additional Information

• 13-week assignment
• First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
• Local candidates are accepted with no radius restriction
• Former permanent or PRN employees of the Memorial Hospital System must have been separated for at least 12 months before being eligible to apply as a traveler
• RTO of up to 5 days can be accommodated; requests exceeding 5 days require facility approval
• Candidates must be available to work 2 out of 3 major holidays
• Travel pairs are not accepted
• Scrub colors: blue, black, or gray
• Parking is available at no cost with a permit obtained during orientation
• Two professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years are required
