American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Med/Surg position at a Level II Trauma acute care hospital in Illinois, requiring a minimum of 2 years of experience and proficiency with Cerner.

Acute care hospital setting with 372 staffed beds and a Level II Trauma designation
-
Medical Surgical unit with an average daily census of 35 patients
-
Day shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts (0600–1830)
-
Every other weekend required
-
Floating required within the hospital or to a nearby affiliate hospital
-
No on-call requirements
-
Charting via Cerner (experience required)
-
Schedule requests can be discussed with the manager
-
Active IL RN license required, or must be in the application process with an ETA to apply

Active BLS certification required (AHA or Red Cross accepted; RQI AHA cards not accepted)

Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg RN experience required

Cardiac monitoring and emergency response experience required: telemetry remote monitoring and use of Rapid Response Teams
-
Gastrointestinal case skills required: colostomy care and feeding tube care and management
-
Genitourinary/renal case skills required: pre/post hemodialysis management and renal failure
-
IV therapy and phlebotomy skills required: accessing ports, blood product administration, central line blood draw, peripheral line care/management, PICC line management, and starting IVs
-
Medication administration experience required: heparin, insulin, and PCA
-
Respiratory case skills required: CPAP/BiPAP, HFNC, nasal cannula, non-invasive airway management, oral suctioning, oxygen face masks, portable oxygen tank, and tracheostomy management

Additional skills required: isolation precautions and wound care/wound vac

Cerner EMR experience required

SSN and DOB required for consideration

13-week assignment

First-time travelers are not accepted for this position

Local candidates are accepted with no radius restriction

Former permanent or PRN employees of the Memorial Hospital System must have been separated for at least 12 months before being eligible to apply as a traveler

RTO of up to 5 days can be accommodated; requests exceeding 5 days require facility approval
-
Candidates must be available to work 2 out of 3 major holidays

Travel pairs are not accepted

Parking is available at no cost with a permit obtained during orientation
