American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Urology/Nephrology unit position at a Level I Trauma, Magnet-designated acute care hospital, requiring an active IL RN license and a minimum of 2 years of Med/Surg experience.

Work in the Med/Surg Urology/Nephrology unit of a 562-bed, Level I Trauma, Magnet-designated acute care hospital in Illinois

Unit has a 25-bed capacity with an average daily census of 23 patients
-
Night shift schedule: 3x12 hours (18:45–07:15)
-
Required to work every other weekend
-
No on-call requirements
-
Floating is required; travelers may float to other Med/Surg units within the hospital or to a nearby affiliate hospital

Charting system: Cerner (experience required)
-
Any solid color scrubs are acceptable
-
Active IL RN license required; must be in hand or actively in the application process
-
Current BLS certification required (AHA or Red Cross accepted; RQI AHA cards not accepted)

Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg nursing experience required
-
Med/Surg and telemetry setting experience required
-
Genitourinary/renal case experience required, including pre/post hemodialysis management and renal failure
-
Cardiac monitoring experience required, including remote telemetry monitoring and use of rapid response teams
-
IV therapy skills required: blood product administration, central line blood draw, peripheral line care, PICC line management, and starting IVs
-
Heparin medication management experience required
-
Respiratory care experience required, including chest tubes (Emerson/Pleur-evac), CPAP/BiPAP, HFNC, nasal cannula, non-invasive airway management, oral suctioning, and portable oxygen
-
Additional clinical skills required: isolation precautions and wound care/wound vac

Cerner EMR experience required

SSN and DOB required for consideration

Charge nurse duties may be assigned as needed throughout the assignment
-
May charge as needed; candidates should be comfortable in a charge RN capacity
-
First-time travelers are welcome to apply, provided they have a solid foundation with 2+ years of Med/Surg RN experience

Local candidates are accepted with no radius restriction

Any permanent or PRN employee of the Memorial Hospital System must have been away for at least 12 months before being considered as a traveler

RTO of up to 5 days is ideally preferred; requests exceeding 5 days require facility approval
-
Candidates must be available to work 2 out of 3 major holidays

Travel pairs are not accepted for this position
