Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Oncology RN for a 13-week travel contract at a Level I Trauma, Magnet-designated acute care hospital in Springfield, IL, requiring chemotherapy administration skills and an active IL RN license.

Details

• Oncology unit in a 562-bed acute care hospital designated as both a Level I Trauma Center and a Magnet facility
• Day shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 7:15 AM – 6:45 PM
• Every other weekend required
• Floating within the hospital and to nearby affiliate hospitals is required for all travelers
• No on-call responsibilities
• Charting via Cerner
• Local candidates are accepted with no radius restriction
• Schedule change requests can be discussed with the manager

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required; must be in hand or in active application process
• Active BLS required; AHA or Red Cross accepted (RQI AHA cards not accepted)
• Chemo certification preferred
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
• Chemotherapy skills required: administration (IV push, continuous infusion, oral), body fluid handling post-chemo, monitoring, cytotoxic spill management/disposal, and recognizing/communicating abnormal lab values
• IV therapy/infusion skills required: port access and care, central line blood draw and care, PICC line care, starting IVs, blood/blood product administration, administration of coagulation factors, antifungals, and antivirals
• SSN and DOB required for consideration

Additional Information

• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• RTO is ideally no more than 5 days per contract; requests beyond 5 days require facility approval
• Candidates must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
• Former permanent or PRN employees of the Memorial Hospital System must have been separated for at least 12 months before being considered as a traveler
• Travel pairs are not accepted
• Scrubs may be any solid color
• Free parking is available with a permit obtained during orientation
