Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Oncology unit position at a Level I Trauma, Magnet-designated acute care hospital in Springfield, IL, requiring active IL licensure and hands-on chemotherapy administration experience.

Details

• Acute care hospital setting — Level I Trauma Center and Magnet-designated facility with 562 staffed beds
• Oncology unit with an average daily census of 24 patients across 24 beds
• Day shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 7:15 AM – 6:45 PM
• Every other weekend required
• Floating within scope is required, including to nearby affiliate hospitals
• No on-call responsibilities
• Charting via Cerner
• Free parking with permit obtained during orientation

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required; must be in hand or actively in the application process
• Current BLS certification required; AHA or Red Cross accepted (RQI AHA cards not accepted)
• Minimum 1 year of oncology RN experience required
• Chemotherapy administration skills required, including: IV push, continuous infusion, oral administration, port access, body fluid handling post-chemo, cytotoxic spill management/disposal, and lab value recognition
• IV therapy and infusion skills required, including: PICC line care, central line care and blood draw, implanted port care, blood/blood product administration, antifungals, antivirals, and coagulation factors
• Chemo certification preferred but not required
• SSN and DOB required for consideration

• Travel pairs are not accepted
• Candidates must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
• RTO requests of more than 5 days require facility approval; all time-off requests should be submitted upfront
• Any solid color scrubs are acceptable
• 2 professional supervisory references from within the past 2 years required
