American Traveler is hiring an ONS-certified RN for a Hematology/Oncology Med-Surg unit, requiring ACLS, telemetry skills, and chemotherapy administration experience.

Inpatient hematology/oncology unit within a cancer hospital and research center
-
Med-Surg unit specializing in hematology and oncology, including an Adolescent and Young Adult (AYA) patient population
-
Patient diagnoses include lymphoma, multiple myeloma, acute and chronic leukemias, sickle cell disease, other non-hematologic cancers, and benign hematology conditions
-
Target nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4, with the possibility of 1:5 based on unit needs
-
Specialized procedures include chemotherapy administration, blood transfusions, IV antibiotics, insulin drips, heparin drips, and management of oncologic emergencies such as tumor lysis syndrome and cytokine release syndrome

Strong emphasis on infection prevention protocols and patient fall prevention

Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30)

If hired on a rotating day/night contract, shift assignments (days, nights, or a combination) are determined by department needs and reviewed every 4-week scheduling period

Weekend scheduling is variable based on unit needs

Telemetry monitoring is performed on the unit

Charting is performed in Epic

Floating to other Med/Surg and Oncology units is required

16-week contract

Active OH RN license or a valid Compact RN license currently in hand
-
Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and ONS Chemotherapy & Biotherapy certification
-
Med-Surg and telemetry nursing experience required
-
Ability to interpret cardiac dysrhythmias required
-
Experience with blood product administration, central line blood draws, PICC line management, peripheral IV care, and phlebotomy required

Experience with feeding tube care and management required

Familiarity with Rapid Response Team protocols required

Epic EMR experience preferred
-
Orientation begins with the first week on Mon–Fri day shift, followed by a second week of 36 hours of on-unit orientation with a preceptor
-
Self-scheduling is used — candidates submit preferred schedule requests prior to the unit finalizing and posting the schedule
-
No blocked or set scheduling is offered; shift assignments are subject to change based on staffing priorities
-
Candidates may change representation without a required break between assignments (excluding Sterile Processing Techs)

Two professional supervisor references from within the past 2 years are required for consideration

A full 7-year work history with all gaps explained is required for consideration
