Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry (Progressive Care/Stepdown) position in Danville, VA, requiring PCU and telemetry experience for a 13-week night shift contract.

Details

  • Progressive Care/Stepdown unit (Floor 6A - Telemetry/PCU) in a 250-bed academic community hospital
  • 36-bed unit serving patients of all ages with diagnoses including CHF, AMI, respiratory failure, renal failure, DKA, and AFib
  • PCU patient ratio is 1:4; Telemetry ratio is 1:6; blended ratio is 1:5
  • Charting via Meditech EHR
  • Night shift schedule: 7P–7A
  • Every other weekend required
  • On-call required as needed
  • Floating required to Med/Surg and ICU; may require travel within a 25-mile radius of the facility

Requirements

  • Active RN license valid in Virginia (VA state or Compact license) required
  • Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, HWC, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) — all must be obtained prior to start; RQI certifications are not accepted
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
  • PCU and telemetry experience required
  • Med/Surg experience (2+ years preferred)
  • Social Security number required for consideration
  • Date of birth required for consideration
  • Must reside more than 60 miles from the facility to be eligible for travel rates and consideration

Additional Information

  • 13-week contract, night shifts
  • Candidates must consent to random drug screening (completed on-site) and complete a Criminal Questionnaire/Consent Form
  • Candidates who have worked as permanent staff at any LifePoint facility within the last 12 months are not eligible
  • Candidates cannot be employed full-time elsewhere during the assignment
  • Any color scrubs are acceptable; casual wear is not permitted
  • Orientation is held bi-weekly on Tuesdays
  • The facility is a designated Chest Pain Center and Certified Advanced Primary Stroke Center accredited by the American College of Cardiology
