American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry (PCU) position in California, requiring a CA RN license, 2 years of experience, and prior travel nursing experience.

Work setting is a 9th Floor Progressive Care Unit (PCU) in an acute care hospital
-
Med/Surg Telemetry unit with cardiac monitoring responsibilities
-
Patient ratio is 1:5
-
Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00–07:30
-
Every other weekend required
-
On-call required as needed
-
Floating may occur to other units within scope of practice, including Rehab Units at alternate campuses
-
Travelers should anticipate approximately 1.5 hours notice prior to shift start when floating is requested; shuttle transportation is provided for inter-campus floating

Epic EMR experience preferred
-
Active California RN license required
-
Current certifications required: BLS and ACLS (both must be AHA-issued and in hand)

Minimum 2 years of RN experience required

Prior travel nursing experience required

Epic EMR experience preferred

Charge nurse experience preferred

Experience with telemetry, cardiac monitoring, and dysrhythmia interpretation/management
-
Experience with respiratory support including BiPAP/CPAP, high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC), tracheostomy care, and ABG interpretation preferred
-
Experience with IV therapy, PICC line management, port access, central line blood draws, and blood product administration
-
Experience with wound care/wound vac, isolation precautions/PPE, and colostomy/ileostomy management
-
2 supervisor references from within the past two years required for consideration

Copies of all certifications required for consideration

7-year work history verification required

Candidates must disclose any background hits or DUIs prior to consideration

Responsibilities include assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of individualized patient care in an acute care setting
-
Collaborates with physicians and interdisciplinary team members to develop and maintain patient-centered plans of care
-
Provides patient and family education throughout admission and transitions of care
-
Serves as a clinical resource and may assist in orienting newly hired staff and students as requested
-
Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to qualify for travel pay; local candidates within 50 miles are eligible at a local rate
-
Previous employees must have been separated for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler

Only one holiday RTO request will be approved for the duration of the contract
