American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry position requiring a minimum of 18 months of PCU experience, with night shift availability and multi-facility floating within a regional health system.

12-hour night shifts (7pm–7am) on a 36-hour per week schedule
-
33-bed Med/Surg Telemetry unit within a 58-licensed-bed facility with no trauma designation
-
Patient population includes stroke rule-outs, pneumonia, cellulitis, failure to thrive, altered mental status, chest pain rule-outs, AFib, and COPD
-
RN-to-patient ratio of 1:5–1:6
-
CNAs support ADLs, vital signs, fingerstick blood glucose, telemetry/Masimo monitoring, and ADT assistance
-
Charge nurse is mostly without a patient assignment; respiratory therapy and hospitalist coverage available 24/7
-
Telemetry monitoring performed at the nurses' station and in a central monitoring bunker

EMR: Epic; IV pump: Alaris; medication dispensing: Omnicell; monitors: Philips Telemetry

Every-other-weekend rotation required

No on-call or callback requirements

75% of holidays required

Floating required within Region 3 (Cleveland, Kings Mountain, Lincoln, and Central Division including CMC Main, Mercy, and LCH) per regional needs and within scope of practice — candidates not agreeable to floating to all listed facilities should not apply

Active NC or Compact RN license required

Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required

Minimum 18 months of PCU experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
-
Proficiency in trach care, cardiac drip management, cardiac rhythm interpretation, chest tube management, blood product administration, wound care/dressing changes, and central line management required

Epic EMR experience required

At least 1 professional reference from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN dated within the past year required for consideration

Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration

Candidates must have a permanent address at least 50 miles from the unit — local candidates are not accepted

Must be separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year following a permanent employment position

Orientation includes facility new employee orientation (NEO) plus 2 days of departmental orientation

Scheduling is done on a 6-week cycle; RTO of up to 6 days may be approved, excluding holidays
