American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry position requiring at least 2 years of acute care experience and the ability to interpret and manage dysrhythmias.

Med/Surg Telemetry unit in a hospital setting
-
Patient population includes chest pain, CAD, DM, PVD, COPD exacerbation, COVID+, TIA, stroke, hypertension, AFib, AFlutter, bradycardia, tachycardia, GI bleed, wound infections, and cellulitis

Procedures include pre/post angiogram and angioplasty (no sheath pulls), PPM/AICD, LINQ recorder, general surgical procedures (EGD, colonoscopy, cholecystectomy, appendectomy), wound debridement, chest tube management, central line catheter insertions, thoracentesis, and paracentesis

Rhythm management using cardiac drips (not titrated for blood pressure) and post-cath care are part of unit responsibilities

Specialized equipment includes telemetry monitoring, chest tubes, and wound vacs

Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts, 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM

8-week contract

Active LA or Compact RN license currently in hand

Current BLS certification (AHA required)

ACLS and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications preferred (AHA required)

Minimum 2 years of acute care nursing experience

Telemetry experience required

Demonstrated ability to interpret and manage cardiac dysrhythmias

Candidates must reside 65+ miles from the facility to be eligible for this position

Upon accepting an assignment, the unit manager may assign travelers to an Emergency Team, which may require remaining at the facility during or after an emergency event or serving on a relief team
