American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position at a Level 1 Trauma, academic medical center in Winston-Salem, NC, requiring at least 2 years of Med/Surg Tele experience and night shift availability.

24-bed Med/Surg Tele unit within a 885-bed Level 1 Trauma academic medical center and designated Chest Pain and Stroke Center

Patient population includes general medicine cases such as diabetes, GI, respiratory, renal, wounds/dressing changes, chest tubes, and trachs
-
Lab draws are required as part of the nursing role on this unit

RN-to-patient ratio of 5-6:1; CNA ratio of 8:1

Key skills include chest tubes, trachs, PIV starts, drains and tubes, PCA pumps, and drip management (Amiodarone, Fentanyl PCA, Ketamine PCA, Dilaudid PCA, Heparin)

Centralized telemetry monitoring; experience reading telemetry strips is required

EMR: Epic
-
IV pump: Alaris; medication dispensing: Omnicell

12-hour night shifts, 1830–0630, 36 hours per week
-
Every other weekend (EOW) rotation required
-
No on-call or call-back requirements

Floating required to other Med/Surg units
-
Active NC RN license or compact RN license currently in hand
-
Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)

Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg Tele (MST) experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
-
Strong proficiency in telemetry strip interpretation
-
Experience with chest tubes, trachs, PIV starts, PCA pumps, and IV drip management
-
Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration

Minimum of 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
-
Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
-
Department support includes CNAs, a receptionist/HUC, charge nurse, phlebotomy team, Rapid Response Team, RT (24/7), hospitalist (24/7), and intensivist (24/7)

Orientation includes facility NEO plus 2 days of departmental orientation

Travelers are expected to work 75% of assigned holidays

Royal blue scrubs required
