Details

  • Day shift schedule, 5x7.5-hour shifts (7:00–15:00)
  • Work in a hospital wound care unit, with patient coverage extending into the ICU
  • Patient population includes those with pressure injuries, as well as critically ill patients such as open heart surgery, heart and lung transplant cases
  • Primary focus on pressure injury assessment, management, treatment, and prevention across the facility
  • Charting via Epic
  • End-of-shift flexibility required based on documentation needs, admits/discharges, and staffing

Requirements

  • Active NJ or Compact RN license required
  • Current certifications required: BLS, and either WOCN (Wound, Ostomy, and Continence Nurse) or CWCN (Certified Wound Care Nurse)
  • Proficiency in pressure injury assessment, staging, documentation, and treatment required
  • Proficiency in the acute care and critical care setting required
  • Two current professional references required for consideration
  • SSN and DOB required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Responsibilities include validating pressure injury staging, assessments, documentation, and treatments in collaboration with patients' primary nurses and/or educators
  • Required to maintain an Excel spreadsheet tracking key pressure injury metrics per patient (e.g., staging, hospital-acquired vs. present on admission)
  • Highest priority is identifying opportunities to reduce and prevent hospital-acquired pressure injuries
  • This role does not involve a traditional patient handoff — schedule flexibility at end of shift is expected
  • Local candidates are accepted at the same rate as travelers
  • Former RWJBH staff (full-time or PRN) must have been separated from the RWJBH health system for a minimum of 1 year before being eligible for a travel assignment
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
