American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Mother Baby/Birthing Center position requiring C-section experience and night shift availability at an acute care facility in West Virginia.

Acute care hospital setting with a dedicated Birthing Center featuring 6 private L&D suites with private bathrooms and showers, an OB Emergency Department with 4 beds, and 11 private Mother Baby/Postpartum rooms

Approximately 1,050 births per year with 3,000 OB ED and outpatient visits annually
-
High-risk OB patient population beginning at 25 weeks gestation; no MFM in-house but full medical capabilities available for referral and in-house management
-
Staffing ratios follow AWHONN guidelines: 1:2 in L&D and 1:4 couplets in Mother Baby

OB Hospitalist in-house 24/7 and Neonatology support (MD/APP) available 24/7
-
Fetal heart monitoring via Centricity FHM system; telemetry capable and monitored remotely in the Telemetry room

EMR: Epic (experience required)

OB techs available on unit for circulating, recovery, and transfer to postpartum; charge nurse present on each side 24/7
-
RT, pharmacy, and Omnicell available 24/7; no dedicated IV team
-
12-hour night shifts (1900–0730)
-
Every other weekend required
-
Holiday coverage required
-
Cross-coverage floating between units is expected
-
13-week contract

Active WV or Compact RN license required
-
Current certifications required: BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), and NRP
-
Minimum 2 years of L&D experience preferred; 1 year of Mother Baby experience acceptable
-
C-section experience required, including ability to circulate and recover C-section patients
-
Epic EMR experience required
-
Driver's license address must reflect a residence more than 50 miles from the facility
-
Two professional references required: one supervisor reference and one peer or additional supervisor reference (charge RN or equivalent); if permanently employed within the last 12 months, one reference must be from that facility

Copies of certifications and driver's license required for consideration

Skills checklist completed within the past year required for consideration

Candidates who have previously worked at any WVU Medicine location must have taken a 2-year break before being eligible to return
-
Travelers who have worked within the WVU system for a cumulative total of one year must also complete a 2-year break before reapplying

Travelers are not eligible for call shifts but may pick up open shifts voluntarily

Scrubs are provided for L&D; navy scrubs are required for the Mother Baby unit
-
Orientation consists of one onboarding shift and one 12-hour shift with a preceptor

In-house STABLE assistance available through the NICU; fetal heart monitoring (FHM) intermediate training provided to staff
-
Facility is designated as a Baby-Friendly birth facility and holds Advanced Perinatal Care Certification, Cribs for Kids National Safe Sleep Hospital certification, and participates in 'YES to Safe Sleep for Babies'

Additional family-centered amenities include lactation consultants and the Cuddles infant security system
