American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Neuro ICU travel assignment requiring Epic proficiency, ACLS certification, and a minimum of 2 years of ICU experience.

24-bed Neuro Critical Care Unit (NCCU) within an academic hospital setting
-
Patient population includes neurosurgery, neurology, stroke, otolaryngology, and oral maxillofacial surgery (OMFS) services
-
Conditions commonly treated include thrombectomies, post-operative craniotomies, cerebral aneurysms, intracranial hemorrhage/hematomas, severe head and/or spinal cord injuries, increased intracranial pressure, TBI, Myasthenia Gravis, Status Epilepticus, and Guillain-Barré syndrome

Patient ratio is 1:2

Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 18:30–07:00

Every other weekend required
-
No on-call responsibilities
-
Floating required when census is low

Epic EMR — experience required
-
Active Michigan (MI) RN license required
-
Current certifications: BLS and ACLS required; NIHSS preferred
-
Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
-
ICU nursing experience required
-
Experience with stroke care, thrombectomies, SAH precautions, EVD/ventriculostomy care, sedation management, and drip titration required
-
Experience with administration of high-acuity medications such as 23.4% NaCl, 3% NaCl, Mannitol, hypertonics, paralytics, Propofol, and sedation agents required

Experience in otolaryngology, oral maxillofacial, neurology, or stroke nursing care preferred

Epic EMR proficiency required

2 professional supervisory references from within the past 2 years required for consideration

Full 7-year work history with all gaps explained required for consideration

Responsibilities include assessment and management of critically ill neurological and neurosurgical patients, free flap monitoring, Doppler usage, and tracheostomy care/management
