American Traveler is seeking an experienced OR RN for a 13-week travel assignment requiring Da Vinci robotic proficiency and on-call availability for trauma, heart, or pediatric call teams.

Large hospital OR with 20 operating rooms, including 4 CVOR suites, 1 hybrid Endo/Vascular room, 12 main general rooms, and outpatient suites covering women's health, ortho, and pediatric ENT/dental cases

CVOR case volume includes approximately 10 CABGs and 3 TAVRs per week, along with VATS, open thoracotomies, valve repairs, AV fistulas, fem-pop bypass, and open/endoscopic AAA repair

General OR case mix includes neuro (EVD placement, shunts), ortho (total joints, ORIF), trauma (GSW, MVA), emergency general surgery, GYN, GI, and GU cases

Robotic cases include GYN, general, and urology procedures using the Da Vinci Xi system — 12-hour shifts for robotic assignments

RNs are expected to scrub and/or circulate; surgical techs (CSTs) also scrub

CVOR RNs are expected to float to general surgery as needed

No transplant, burn, or adult ophthalmology cases; pediatric scrubbing not required

Day shift: 0645–1915 (12 hrs) or 0645–1715 (10 hrs); evening shift: 1045–2315; night shift options: 1845–0715 (12 hrs) or 2245–0715 (8 hrs)

On-call required for day shift travelers; travelers are assigned to the Trauma Call Team unless they have a strong CVOR or pediatric skillset

Trauma Call: approximately 3 shifts per 6-week schedule, either 0700–1900 or 1900–0700

Heart Call (CVOR): 1 call shift per week (Mon–Thu, 1700–0700) and 1 weekend (Fri 1500 – Mon 0700) per 6-week schedule

Pediatric Call: 1 call shift per week (Mon–Thu, 1700–0700) and 1 weekend (Fri 1700 – Mon 0700) per 6-week schedule

30-minute on-call response time required; no designated sleep room available on-site

EMR: Epic | IV Pump: Alaris | Med Dispensing: Pyxis

Active WA RN license or a Compact RN license accepted; may submit with a pending WA license if proof of application is included

Current BLS certification required

Minimum 1 year of OR experience required, with a strong OR background

Da Vinci robotic proficiency is required — this is a non-negotiable skill
-
Top preferred service line strengths: general surgery robotics, general surgery, and orthopedics (trauma and neuro also highly valued)

Night shift candidates must be comfortable with blood administration (Belmont/intraoperative blood salvage), arterial line assistance, and wound vacs, along with craniotomy, ortho, and heavy trauma cases

At least one supervisor-level reference (Charge Nurse, Manager, or Director) required for consideration; a second reference will be needed prior to start

First-time travelers are welcome to apply, provided they have strong OR experience

Orientation consists of 1–2 days of general hospital orientation followed by one full shift on the unit; additional position-specific orientation days may be added based on an individual assessment

A Traveler Telemetry Competency exam is required and must be completed and passed prior to start

RTO of up to 5 days may be approved; any missed scheduled hours must be made up by extending the assignment
