Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced OR RN for a 13-week travel assignment requiring Da Vinci robotic proficiency and on-call availability for trauma, heart, or pediatric call teams.

Details

  • Large hospital OR with 20 operating rooms, including 4 CVOR suites, 1 hybrid Endo/Vascular room, 12 main general rooms, and outpatient suites covering women's health, ortho, and pediatric ENT/dental cases
  • CVOR case volume includes approximately 10 CABGs and 3 TAVRs per week, along with VATS, open thoracotomies, valve repairs, AV fistulas, fem-pop bypass, and open/endoscopic AAA repair
  • General OR case mix includes neuro (EVD placement, shunts), ortho (total joints, ORIF), trauma (GSW, MVA), emergency general surgery, GYN, GI, and GU cases
  • Robotic cases include GYN, general, and urology procedures using the Da Vinci Xi system — 12-hour shifts for robotic assignments
  • RNs are expected to scrub and/or circulate; surgical techs (CSTs) also scrub
  • CVOR RNs are expected to float to general surgery as needed
  • No transplant, burn, or adult ophthalmology cases; pediatric scrubbing not required
  • Day shift: 0645–1915 (12 hrs) or 0645–1715 (10 hrs); evening shift: 1045–2315; night shift options: 1845–0715 (12 hrs) or 2245–0715 (8 hrs)
  • On-call required for day shift travelers; travelers are assigned to the Trauma Call Team unless they have a strong CVOR or pediatric skillset
  • Trauma Call: approximately 3 shifts per 6-week schedule, either 0700–1900 or 1900–0700
  • Heart Call (CVOR): 1 call shift per week (Mon–Thu, 1700–0700) and 1 weekend (Fri 1500 – Mon 0700) per 6-week schedule
  • Pediatric Call: 1 call shift per week (Mon–Thu, 1700–0700) and 1 weekend (Fri 1700 – Mon 0700) per 6-week schedule
  • 30-minute on-call response time required; no designated sleep room available on-site
  • EMR: Epic | IV Pump: Alaris | Med Dispensing: Pyxis

Requirements

  • Active WA RN license or a Compact RN license accepted; may submit with a pending WA license if proof of application is included
  • Current BLS certification required
  • Minimum 1 year of OR experience required, with a strong OR background
  • Da Vinci robotic proficiency is required — this is a non-negotiable skill
  • Top preferred service line strengths: general surgery robotics, general surgery, and orthopedics (trauma and neuro also highly valued)
  • Night shift candidates must be comfortable with blood administration (Belmont/intraoperative blood salvage), arterial line assistance, and wound vacs, along with craniotomy, ortho, and heavy trauma cases
  • At least one supervisor-level reference (Charge Nurse, Manager, or Director) required for consideration; a second reference will be needed prior to start
