Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced OR RN for a Level I Trauma Center and Magnet-designated academic teaching hospital, with scrub experience strongly preferred and on-call requirements.

Details

  • Work setting is a busy, Magnet-designated, Level I academic trauma center Main OR with 21 suites covering all surgical specialties including Trauma, Transplant, Ortho, Neuro, ENT, GU-GYN, and Robotics
  • RNs are trained to both scrub and circulate surgical procedures
  • Nursing team is composed of approximately 75% RNs and 25% Certified Surgical Technologists
  • Schedule is 3x12-hour day shifts, 6:30 AM – 7:00 PM
  • On-call required: up to 4 call shifts every 4 weeks
  • Weekend requirement: up to one working weekend shift every 4 weeks
  • Floating within scope to like units or sister facilities is required
  • Charting is done in Epic
  • Scrubs are provided by the facility

Requirements

  • Active SC RN license or Compact/Multi-State RN license required; candidates with a pending SC license may be considered
  • Current AHA certifications required: BLS
  • Radiation badge required (provided by agency)
  • Minimum 2 years of OR RN experience strongly preferred
  • Level I trauma center experience required
  • Scrub experience strongly preferred
  • SSN and Driver's License required for consideration
  • Two professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration

Additional Information

  • First-time travelers are accepted depending on the position
  • Previous permanent or PRN staff at any MUSC location must have been separated from the system for at least 1 year before being eligible to work as a traveler
  • Local candidates (within 60 miles of the facility) are accepted on a case-by-case basis; non-local candidates are prioritized
  • All RTO must be submitted upfront and is subject to approval based on facility needs
  • Travelers are required to work at least one holiday period (Christmas: Dec 24–26 or New Year's: Dec 31–Jan 1)
  • Online orientation modules are completed prior to the start of the assignment
  • During hurricane season (June–November), all employees and contractors may be assigned to emergency response teams; peak activity occurs in August and September
  • Holiday coverage is required for at least one designated holiday period
