American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a CVOR position requiring a minimum of 2 years of cardiovascular OR experience and strong scrub skills in a fast-paced acute care setting.

Work setting is an acute care hospital Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR)
-
Unit operates 4 surgical suites performing 4–6 heart surgeries per day, including CABG and valve procedures — no thoracic cases

Scrub role is required; candidates must be confident and competent in CVOR scrubbing
-
8-hour varied day shifts with call required when cases run long
-
Overnight call is required once per week
-
Weekend coverage of 3 weekend days per month (approximately 1.5 weekends) is required on an as-needed basis, not on a fixed every-other-weekend schedule

One weekend call shift per month is required
-
Holiday rotation with core staff is expected
-
Floating within the OR is required, with travelers given first-to-float priority

Charge nurse coverage is over the entire OR; CSTs serve as surgical techs

Cerner EMR is used in this position

Ability to read and interpret EKG strips is required

Ventilator experience is present in the unit but not required
-
RT and pharmacy support are available 24/7

Active CA RN license required; must be active at time of consideration — pending licenses are not accepted

Current BLS certification (AHA) required; pending certifications are not accepted

Minimum 2 years of CVOR experience required

Strong CVOR scrub skills required

Ability to read and interpret EKG strips required

A copy of your driver's license is required for consideration

2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked, and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years worked — both must include dates of employment and eligibility for rehire

Candidates must pass the Relias Dysrhythmia exam (basic or advanced) before an offer can be confirmed
-
A pass/fail sterile technique test covering Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes is administered on the first day of orientation

Unit orientation consists of 1–2 days in the OR with a preceptor
-
A unit manager interview is part of the selection process

First-time travelers are welcome to apply

Candidates who have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity Health facility within the past year are not eligible; candidates who worked PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered

Hospital-provided scrubs are supplied for this position
