Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a PACU position in the Chicago area, requiring a minimum of 2 years of recent PACU experience and mandatory float availability across Cook County facilities.

Details

• Hospital-based PACU unit in an acute care setting
• Day shift schedule: 4x10-hour shifts, 6:00 AM–4:30 PM
• Every other weekend (2 weekends per month) required
• No block scheduling or special scheduling requests permitted
• Charting is performed in Cerner
• This is a mandatory float facility — all clinicians are required to float at the facility's discretion, potentially to units outside their primary area of competency
• Paid parking available in an adjacent garage at $5 per entry

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required; pending licensure is not accepted
• Minimum 2 years of recent PACU RN experience in an acute care facility
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS), and PALS
• Must reside within 75 miles of the facility

Additional Information

• Provide post-anesthesia care to patients recovering from surgical and procedural sedation
• When floated outside of primary competency, a team-based care model is utilized
• Float assignments may be to any Cook County facility within 50 miles; clinicians may receive float notification as little as 2 hours before their shift
• RTO is capped at 5 days per contract with no more than 2 consecutive days off
• No RTO will be approved on weekends, on holidays, or the day before or after a holiday
• Proof of COVID vaccination is required; no exceptions
• Scrubs may be any color
