Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a high-acuity PACU position requiring recent Level 1 or comparable Level 2 Trauma experience and an active NH or compact RN license.

Details

  • High-acuity, high-volume PACU setting with a fast-paced, controlled-chaos environment, particularly during evening hours
  • Patient population includes post-surgical patients from a wide range of specialties including vascular (carotids, AAA repairs), thoracic (esophagectomy), neuro (craniotomy, neurostimulators, modified radical neck with trach), general, gynecology, orthopedic, kidney transplants, and Whipple procedures
  • Ventricular drain management is required; patients requiring ICP monitoring are transferred directly to the ICU
  • Proficiency with arterial lines, central lines, vasoactive and sedative drips, chest tubes, and trachs is required in this role
  • PACU overnight boarders regularly include ICU, step-down, and med-surg patients including post-craniotomy cases
  • Day/night rotation with variable shift start times of 0700, 0800, 0900, 1000, 1100, or 1900

Requirements

  • Active NH or compact RN license required
  • Current BLS certification required
  • Minimum 2 years of recent experience in a Level 1 or comparable Level 2 Trauma center
  • Previous ICU and/or high-acuity PACU experience strongly preferred
  • 2 manager references required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility — local candidates are not eligible for this position
  • Provide post-operative care to a diverse, high-acuity surgical patient population including complex neuro, vascular, and transplant cases
  • Manage overnight PACU boarders who may require ICU-level or step-down monitoring
