Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Pre-Op/PACU position requiring EPIC proficiency and pediatric experience, including ENT cases, at a hospital in Rochester, NY.

Details

  • Pre-Op unit in a hospital setting, with PACU crossover opportunities for qualified candidates
  • Patient population includes pre-operative adults and pediatric patients undergoing orthopedic, gynecological, general surgery, neurological, and ENT procedures
  • Patient ratio of 1:3
  • Primary schedule is day shift, 4x10-hour shifts (7:00 AM–5:00 PM); candidates with both DOSA and PACU experience may be assigned a later shift (11:00 AM–9:30 PM for 10-hour shifts, or 1:00 PM–9:30 PM for 8-hour shifts)
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Scrubs are provided by the facility

Requirements

  • Active NY RN license required
  • Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and PALS
  • Minimum 3 years of RN experience required
  • Pre-Op and/or PACU experience required; combined DOSA and PACU experience is a plus
  • Experience managing pediatric patients required
  • Proficiency with phlebotomy and IV placement required
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible
  • 2 professional supervisory references from within the past 2 years required for consideration
  • Full 7-year work history with all gaps explained required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Responsibilities include pre-operative assessment, patient education, pre-op medication administration, and review of history and physicals
  • Procedures supported span a broad surgical scope including orthopedic (total joints, spine, ORIF), neuro (craniotomy, cervical fusion), vascular, GYN, ENT (tonsillectomy, radical neck dissection), bariatric, urologic, and plastic surgery cases
  • Clinical skills utilized include procedural sedation monitoring, post-epidural management, airway assessment, extubation, chest tube management, malignant hyperthermia protocol, PCA pump management, and RASS assessment
  • Experience with nerve blocks, spinal, MAC, and general anesthesia recovery preferred
