American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Psychiatric position in a remote Alaska setting, requiring an active AK RN license and a minimum of 2 years of experience.

Inpatient psychiatric unit serving a broad patient population spanning adolescent, adult, geriatric, and pediatric psychiatric cases
-
Position also spans multiple care areas including med-surg (adult, mother/baby, ortho, peds) and rehabilitation

Variable day/night shift schedule

13-week contract

Active Alaska (AK) RN license in good standing required

Minimum 2 years of RN experience required

Current BLS required for the duration of the assignment

Graduation from an NLN-accredited nursing program required

Basic EKG skills required

Proficiency in medication calculations for adult and pediatric patients (math test administered upon arrival)

Competency documentation required upon arrival: IV/Central Line site care, fall precautions, age-specific care, abuse/neglect, pain management, restraints and seclusion, end of life care, blood transfusions

DOB and SSN required for consideration

Located in a remote area of Alaska; hospital-provided housing is available and strongly recommended

Housing consists of shared units with private bedrooms and shared common spaces; gender-specific units (male or female); no dogs permitted; travelers coordinate housing directly with the facility

The facility will reimburse economy-class flights to and from the assignment; detailed flight and luggage receipts must be submitted to American Traveler for reimbursement processing

Flight itinerary must be provided one week prior to the start date; the facility will assist with airport pickup upon arrival but does not provide return airport transportation

Orientation is held on Tuesdays and Wednesdays

Supervises Psychiatric Technicians on duty

Responsible for the full nursing process including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation across a patient population from birth to elderly

Collaborates with an interdisciplinary healthcare team to deliver culturally sensitive, age-appropriate care
