American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Telemetry unit position requiring a WV or compact RN license, ACLS/BLS certifications, and at least 2 years of experience.

Acute care telemetry unit in a hospital setting (PCU/Tele) spanning two floors with a combined 42 beds (private and semi-private rooms)
-
Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5 on both day and night shifts
-
Common patient diagnoses include elevated troponin, active chest pain, pre/post cardiac cath with and without intervention, post-STEMI (after ICU recovery), NSTEMI, peritoneal dialysis, pacers, and occasional post-surgical and oncology overflow patients
-
Set-rate drips in use including Cardizem, Amiodarone, Labetalol, Dopamine, Dobutamine, Heparin, Integrilin per protocol, and Nitro; no titrating drips currently

Manages BiPAP, CPAP, and high-flow oxygen (managed per RT); no vents
-
Philips Cardiac Monitors in use; nurses document rhythm strips every 4 hours in the patient chart

Charting via Epic EMR; telemetry data flows directly into Epic

12-hour day shifts (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM), four shifts per week

Rotating every-other-weekend requirement (Days: Saturday/Sunday)

Holiday coverage based on unit needs at the director's discretion

Rarely required to float; if needed, floating may occur to ICU overflow tele or Ortho/Med-Surg

Opportunities for precepting and charge nurse roles

Active WV or compact RN license required
-
Current BLS (AHA) and ACLS (AHA) certifications required

Minimum 2 years of RN experience required

Epic EMR experience required

BSN not required

Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible

Must pass an EKG test (pass/fail) as part of the hiring process

A valid, unexpired driver's license is required for consideration
-
2 references required: 1 supervisor reference and 1 peer or additional supervisor reference (e.g., Charge RN); if the candidate worked at a permanent facility in the last 12 months, one supervisor reference must be from that facility

COVID-19 vaccination required; medical or religious exemptions may be requested

Candidates who have previously worked at any WVU Medicine location must have taken a 2-year break before reapplying

Travelers who have worked within the WVU system for a cumulative year must take a 2-year break before returning

Charge nurse coverage varies; a floating charge nurse may cover both floors, or each floor may have its own charge nurse who carries a full patient assignment

PCT support targets 3 aides per floor when fully staffed, though staffing may vary
-
Hospitalist is in-house 24/7; RT and pharmacy are in-house 24/7, with pharmacy also present on the unit during the day (Omnicell)

No IV team on unit — nurses are responsible for IV access

Scrub color requirement: Navy blue scrubs; navy or white jacket; white or navy undershirt; natural hair color only (no pink, purple, or blue); distasteful tattoos must be covered

Floor orientation is 1–2 days depending on experience
