American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a PCU/Surgical Oncology position at a cancer hospital, requiring at least 2 years of experience and ACLS certification for a 16-week night shift contract.

Mixed acuity PCU and Med-Surg unit within a surgical oncology setting at a major cancer hospital

Patient population includes adults and geriatrics with diagnoses spanning surgical oncology (breast, thyroid, melanoma), hepatobiliary cancers (liver, pancreas, spleen, biliary tract, neuroendocrine), colorectal cancers, and plastics/reconstructive surgery

Staffing ratio goal is 1:4, but may be 1:5 based on unit needs

Shift is nights, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30)

Rotating D/N contracts are possible — shift assignments (days, nights, or a combination) are determined by department needs and reviewed every 4-week scheduling period

Weekend scheduling is variable based on unit needs with no set or blocked scheduling

Self-scheduling requests are submitted prior to the final schedule being posted

Special procedures include chemotherapy, blood transfusions, IV antibiotics, management of oncologic emergencies, cytokine release syndrome, insulin drips, and heparin drips

Strong emphasis on infection prevention protocols and patient fall prevention

Charting is done in Epic

Active OH or Compact RN license required

Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required

Minimum 2 years of RN experience required

PCU or surgical oncology nursing experience strongly relevant to this role

Epic EMR experience preferred

ONS Chemotherapy certification is preferred but not required

Orientation consists of the first week Mon–Fri on day shift, followed by a second week of 36 hours of on-unit orientation with a preceptor

Candidates who have previously worked at this facility do not require a 30-day break between assignments to change representation
