Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position requiring specialized neuro-surgical experience, including ventriculostomies and lumbar drains, with a day/night rotation schedule.

Details

  • 10-bed Progressive Care Unit (PCU) in a hospital setting
  • Neuroscience patient population including neuromuscular disorders, meningitis, TBI, spinal cord injury, primary stroke, brain and spine tumor resections, spinal surgery, head and neck cancer, and Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus (NPH) trials
  • Specialized procedures include management of arterial lines, ventriculostomies, subdural drains, and lumbar drains
  • Experience with hemodynamic monitoring, invasive BP monitoring, BiPAP/CPAP, trach patients on ventilators, low-dose pressors and vasoactive medications, Mannitol and 3% saline, and complex wound care
  • Day/night rotation schedule, 36 hours per week

Requirements

  • Active NH or Compact RN license required
  • Current BLS certification required
  • Minimum 2 years of recent experience in a Level 1 or comparable Level 2 Trauma setting
  • Proficiency with arterial lines, ventriculostomies, subdural drains, and lumbar drains required
  • Experience with hemodynamic and invasive BP monitoring, BiPAP/CPAP, trach/ventilator management, vasoactive medications, and complex wounds required
  • Two manager references required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility — local candidates are not eligible for this position
  • Care for a complex neuro-surgical and medical patient population across a wide range of acuity levels
