American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position requiring at least 18 months of PCU experience, with night shift and every-other-weekend rotation.

58-bed hospital with a 33-bed Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
-
Patient population includes stroke R/O, pneumonia, cellulitis, failure to thrive, AMS, chest pain R/O, Afib, and COPD
-
RN-to-patient ratio of 1:5 to 1:6

Procedures and skills include trach care, cardiac drip management, cardiac rhythm interpretation, chest tube management, blood product administration, wound care/dressing changes, and central line management

EMR: Epic (experience required)

IV pumps: Alaris | Medication dispensing: Omnicell | Monitoring: Philips Telemetry

12-hour night shifts, 1900–0700, 36 hours per week

Every-other-weekend rotation

No on-call or call-back requirements

Floating is required within Region 3 (Cleveland, Kings Mountain, Lincoln, and Central Division including CMC Main, Mercy, and LCH) — candidates who are not agreeable to floating to all listed facilities should not apply

Active NC or compact RN license currently in hand

Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)

Minimum 18 months of PCU experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
-
Proficiency in essential nursing skills including trach care, cardiac drip management, cardiac rhythm interpretation, chest tube care, blood product administration, wound care, and central line management

Candidate's permanent address must be located at least 50 miles from the home unit — local candidates are not accepted

Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration

Minimum of 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

Department support includes CNAs, Receptionist/HUC (primarily day shifts), a charge nurse (mostly without patient assignment), phlebotomy, IV/VAT team, resource nurse (as staffing allows), RT available 24/7, and Hospitalist coverage 24/7 (mix of in-person and virtual)

Telemetry is monitored both at the nurses' station and in a central monitoring bunker

Orientation consists of facility NEO plus 2 days of departmental orientation

Schedules are set on a 6-week cycle

Travelers are expected to work 75% of assigned holidays

Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays; hours missed must be made up by extending the contract
