American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Neuro Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position at a Level I Trauma Center, requiring Epic experience and ACLS/BLS/NIHSS certifications.

Neuro PCU at a 703-bed acute care Magnet-designated teaching hospital and Level I Trauma Center
-
Adult neurological patient population including neurosurgical recovery, stroke management, neuro-specific diagnoses, and medical overflow
-
Unit includes 5 dedicated beds for continuous 24-hour epilepsy monitoring

Advanced Thrombectomy Capable Stroke Center with 24/7 neurointerventional coverage and endovascular procedures

Patient ratio of 1:4–5
-
Day shift, 3x12s, 6:45 AM – 7:15 PM
-
Weekend requirement: every other weekend (EOW) or 6 weekend shifts per 6-week scheduling block

Epic EMR experience required

Floating required to units within the traveler's clinical skillset
-
13-week contract
-
Active Virginia state or Compact RN license required; pending license accepted only if candidate holds a single-state license from a non-compact state

Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)

Epic EMR experience required
-
Proficiency in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and emergency response including Rapid Response and Code teams
-
Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, and central/peripheral line care
-
Experience with cardiac drips (non-titrated) and medication administration
-
Respiratory support skills including nasal cannula, O2 administration, and non-invasive airway management

Comfortable working at a 1:5 patient ratio

Two professional references required for consideration

Copy of driver's license and Social Security card required for consideration

Provide specialized nursing care to adult patients with neurological conditions in a PCU setting

Hospital is affiliated with the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine
-
Must work one holiday during the 13-week contract

All time-off (RTO) requests must be submitted at the time of application

Facility may call off 1 shift per 2-week period
