American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU/Telemetry) position at a Level 3 Trauma, Certified Chest Pain and Stroke Center facility in Shelby, NC, requiring at least 18 months of PCU experience and flexibility to float within a multi-facility regional network.

32-bed Progressive Care Unit (PCU) at a 241-licensed-bed Level 3 Trauma and Certified Chest Pain and Stroke Center

Patient population includes those not requiring mechanical ventilation, with common diagnoses such as CHF, dysrhythmias, chest pain workup, stroke, respiratory illness, diabetes, AKI/CKD, ETOH withdrawal, and IVDA

Typical RN-to-patient ratio is 1:4, with the possibility of 1:5 depending on acuity

Telemetry monitoring available at both bedside and nurses station

EMR: Epic (experience required)

IV pumps: Alaris | Med dispensing: Omnicell | Monitors: Philips

12-hour night shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM, 36 hours per week

Every other weekend rotation required

No on-call or call-back requirements

Floating is required within Region 3 (Cleveland, Kings Mountain, Lincoln, and Central Division including CMC Main, Mercy, and LCH) — candidates who are not agreeable to this requirement should not apply

Active NC or Compact RN license required

Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)

Minimum 18 months of PCU RN experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
-
Required clinical skills: tracheostomy care, cardiac drip management, cardiac rhythm interpretation, chest tube management, blood product administration, wound care/dressing changes, and central line management

At least 1 professional reference from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN, dated within the past year, required for consideration

Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration

Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position

CNA support available for ADLs; HUC/Receptionist support on day shift only; Charge Nurse available as a clinical resource

Phlebotomy team handles most draws; IV/VAT Team, Respiratory Therapy (24/7), Hospitalist (24/7), and Intensivist (24/7) on staff

Orientation includes facility-level NEO plus 2 days of departmental orientation

Travelers are expected to work 75% of assigned holidays
-
RTO: Up to 6 days off may be approved, excluding holidays; any time off that results in unmet contracted hours must be added to the end of the contract

Scheduling is done in 6-week cycles
