Description

American Traveler is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) with at least 1 year of OR experience and Epic EMR proficiency for a hospital-based surgical position in Peoria, IL at a Level 1 Trauma center.

Details

• Hospital OR setting serving a broad range of surgical specialties, from simple to complex procedures
• Day shift schedule, Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM – 4:30 PM
• 36 hours per week, 8-hour shifts, 5 days per week
• On-call hours required outside of scheduled shifts, including after-hours, weekends, and holidays
• Uses Epic EMR (experience required)
• Level 1 Trauma facility

Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of surgical tech experience
• Associate's Degree in Surgical Technology or Certificate of Completion of a Surgical Technology program
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association
• IDPH Fingerprinting required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Level 1 Trauma experience required
• Fluency in English (read, write, speak)
• Basic computer proficiency including word processing, spreadsheets, email, and web browsing
• License required if applicable
• Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position

Additional Information

• Prepare surgeon-specific sterile fields and back table setups accurately and efficiently prior to patient entry
• Scrub on a wide variety of surgical specialties, including complex and emergency procedures, in first scrub, second scrub, and first assist roles
• Anticipate and respond to intraoperative needs including unplanned case changes (e.g., lap to open, uncontrolled bleeding)
• Perform instrument, sponge, and sharps counts in collaboration with the circulating RN
• Precept and mentor surgical techs, RNs, and students on surgeon-specific preferences and procedures
• Adhere to assigned weekly, weekend, and holiday call shifts per hospital policy
• RTO not to exceed 7 total days per 13-week contract
• Travelers who have been on assignment at this health system for 1 year must take a 6-month break before returning to any location within the system
• First-time travelers are not explicitly excluded, but Level 1 Trauma and Epic experience are firm requirements
