American Traveler is seeking a Senior Surgical Technologist with CVOR experience for a 13-week hospital OR assignment requiring cardiac scrub experience and BLS certification.

Hospital OR/CVOR setting with complex and high-acuity surgical volume
-
Cardiac surgical cases including cardiopulmonary bypass, endovascular valve replacement, aneurysm repair (TeVAR, FeVAR), and HIPEC
-
Also involves complex procedures such as liver and multi-visceral organ transplants
-
Shifts are 8-hour days starting at 6am, with possible extensions to 10 or 12-hour shifts (6am–4:30pm or 6am–6:30pm)

On-call required: 48 hours of call per six-week schedule, including one weekend per month
-
40 hours per week, 5 days per week

Travelers may be required to float to a nearby sister hospital

Minimum of 2 years of surgical technologist experience required
-
Cardiac scrub experience required, including ability to scrub cases involving cardiopulmonary bypass

BLS certification required (must be AHA)
-
Surgical Technologist certification required, or 3–5 years of experience supporting complex, high-acuity surgical volume in lieu of certification

Active Michigan license required if applicable

High school diploma or GED required

Graduate of a Surgical Technology Program

Online orientation modules must be completed onsite and passed prior to the start date, typically one week before

COVID vaccination is mandatory for this facility

Scrub complex cases including cardiopulmonary bypass procedures, organ transplants, and endovascular repairs
-
Prepare the OR by setting tables, instruments, and supplies according to the surgical procedure
-
Verify proper functioning of instruments and equipment prior to use
-
Assist RN with patient admittance, transfer, discharge, positioning, and prepping as needed

Provide comfort, privacy support, and safety for pre-operative patients
-
Train and precept new employees and students per assigned orientation curriculum

Participate in shared governance, department task forces, audit monitors, and continuing education
-
All requested time off (RTO) must be submitted prior to placement; requests after an offer is made will need to be discussed with management once the assignment begins
