Description

American Traveler is seeking a Senior Surgical Technologist with CVOR experience for a 13-week hospital OR assignment requiring cardiac scrub experience and BLS certification.

Details

  • Hospital OR/CVOR setting with complex and high-acuity surgical volume
  • Cardiac surgical cases including cardiopulmonary bypass, endovascular valve replacement, aneurysm repair (TeVAR, FeVAR), and HIPEC
  • Also involves complex procedures such as liver and multi-visceral organ transplants
  • Shifts are 8-hour days starting at 6am, with possible extensions to 10 or 12-hour shifts (6am–4:30pm or 6am–6:30pm)
  • On-call required: 48 hours of call per six-week schedule, including one weekend per month
  • 40 hours per week, 5 days per week
  • Travelers may be required to float to a nearby sister hospital

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of surgical technologist experience required
  • Cardiac scrub experience required, including ability to scrub cases involving cardiopulmonary bypass
  • BLS certification required (must be AHA)
  • Surgical Technologist certification required, or 3–5 years of experience supporting complex, high-acuity surgical volume in lieu of certification
  • Active Michigan license required if applicable
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Graduate of a Surgical Technology Program

Additional Information

  • Online orientation modules must be completed onsite and passed prior to the start date, typically one week before
  • COVID vaccination is mandatory for this facility
  • Scrub complex cases including cardiopulmonary bypass procedures, organ transplants, and endovascular repairs
  • Prepare the OR by setting tables, instruments, and supplies according to the surgical procedure
  • Verify proper functioning of instruments and equipment prior to use
  • Assist RN with patient admittance, transfer, discharge, positioning, and prepping as needed
  • Provide comfort, privacy support, and safety for pre-operative patients
  • Train and precept new employees and students per assigned orientation curriculum
  • Participate in shared governance, department task forces, audit monitors, and continuing education
  • All requested time off (RTO) must be submitted prior to placement; requests after an offer is made will need to be discussed with management once the assignment begins
