Travel Writer

[TalkTravel](https://talktravel.com) is a travel community built on real conversations — part travel hackers, part dinner party, part the best web forum you ever stumbled into at 1 AM. We believe the best travel advice comes from real people, not algorithms or sponsored listicles.

Iphone users can get a better feel by using testflight from Apple: https://testflight.apple.com/join/wxcQmWh and get an early beta version.

Our community is organized around the topics travelers actually care about: [airlines](https://talktravel.com/blog/category/airlines/), airports & lounges, [travel tips & hacks](https://talktravel.com/blog/category/travel-tips/), [packing & baggage strategies](https://talktravel.com/blog/category/baggage/), loyalty & points programs, and destination deep-dives. No sponsored content, no promoted posts — just travelers talking to travelers.

We're building what we call a "[digital third place](https://talktravel.com/blog/what-are-third-places-irl-online-virtual/)"; — an online space designed for genuine belonging and conversation, inspired by the cafés, pubs, and bookstores that once anchored community life.

TalkTravel was founded by Sean and David — two lifelong travelers and product builders. Sean previously led product at a social app with 30M+ users and serves on the board of the [International LGBTQ+ Travel Association (IGLTA)](https://www.iglta.org/). The Role

We're looking for a Travel Writer to join the [TalkTravel Blog](https://talktravel.com/blog/) team and help shape the editorial voice of a growing travel community. You'll write engaging content across our core verticals — from airline seat reviews and [carry-on packing guides](https://talktravel.com/blog/category/baggage/) to solo travel itineraries, loyalty program breakdowns, and destination features.

This isn't a "10 Best Beaches" content mill. We write with the depth of someone who's actually been there, the utility of a well-sourced travel forum post, and the warmth of a friend sharing tips over drinks. Our recent coverage includes topics like solo travel logistics for the [Winter Olympics 2026](https://talktravel.com/blog/return-flights-winter-olympics-2026-solo-travel/), [premium economy cabin reviews](https://talktravel.com/blog/american-airlines-787-premium-economy-review/), [sustainable aviation](https://talktravel.com/blog/sustainable-aviation-fuel-vs-carbon-offsets/), and science-backed [sleep strategies for red-eye flights](https://talktravel.com/blog/red-eye-flights-how-to-sleep-on-overnight-flights-science-backed/).

What You'll Do

---

Who You Are

  • 3+ years of experience in travel writing, content marketing, or digital journalism
  • A genuine passion for travel — you've flown enough to have opinions on premium economy seats, carry-on strategies, and airport lounges
  • Experience writing long-form content (2,000–4,000+ words) that balances depth with readability
  • Familiarity with WordPress, Google Analytics, and SEO tools (Ahrefs, SEMrush, or similar)
  • Strong editorial voice — you can write with authority and warmth, not in generic SEO-speak
  • Understanding of community-driven content — you know how to write articles that start conversations, not just attract clicks

Nice to Have

  • Experience in the airline, hospitality, or loyalty/points space
  • A following or published bylines in travel media
  • Experience with solo travel, LGBTQ+ travel, or adventure travel content
  • Comfort with AI-assisted writing workflows — we use AI as a research and drafting tool, not a replacement for original voice
  • Photography or visual storytelling skills

---

What We Offer

  • Creative freedom to pitch stories and explore topics you care about within our editorial pillars
  • A voice in shaping the editorial direction of a travel platform that's rethinking how travelers connect and share knowledge
  • Remote-first, flexible schedule — write from wherever you're traveling next
  • Competitive per-article compensation with potential to grow into a full-time role as [TalkTravel](https://talktravel.com) scales
  • Direct collaboration with the founders and an early seat at the table of a growing community startup
