Position: Traveling Butler

Location: Abu Dhabi, UAE (Extensive International Travel)

Employment Type: Full-Time

Reporting To: Principal / Estate Manager / Chief of Staff

About the Role

A prominent Ultra High Net Worth (UHNW) family based in Abu Dhabi, is seeking an experienced, polished, and highly discreet Traveling Butler to provide exceptional personal service to the Principal and accompanying family members during international travel and at various private residences.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring a seamless luxury experience, anticipating the Principal's needs, managing travel logistics from a service perspective, and maintaining the highest standards of hospitality, etiquette, and confidentiality.

Due to the extensive travel requirements across Europe, preference will be given to candidates holding a European passport, enabling visa-free travel within the Schengen region.

Key Responsibilities

Personal Service & Guest Experience

  • Deliver impeccable butler service in accordance with international luxury hospitality standards.
  • Anticipate and respond proactively to the Principal's personal preferences and requirements.
  • Prepare residences, hotel suites, yachts, and private accommodations before arrival.
  • Coordinate wardrobe presentation, luggage handling, garment care, and packing/unpacking.
  • Arrange meals, refreshments, and beverages according to the Principal's preferences.
  • Maintain the highest standards of discretion, privacy, and confidentiality at all times.

Travel Support

  • Accompany the Principal on frequent international travel, often at short notice.
  • Coordinate with private aviation, yacht crews, luxury hotels, chauffeurs, and local service providers.
  • Ensure smooth arrivals, departures, and transitions between destinations.
  • Liaise with security teams, Executive Assistants, and household staff to ensure seamless travel experiences.
  • Oversee luggage logistics and personal effects throughout the journey.

Household & Residence Management

  • Prepare guest suites and living areas to the Principal's standards.
  • Supervise housekeeping and service staff where required.
  • Maintain inventories of luxury items, wardrobes, amenities, and personal belongings.
  • Ensure valuables are handled securely and appropriately.

Hospitality & Protocol

  • Welcome VIP guests with exceptional etiquette and professionalism.
  • Coordinate formal dining, private entertaining, and special occasions.
  • Ensure silver service, table setting, and fine dining standards are consistently maintained.
  • Support protocol requirements during official or diplomatic engagements where applicable.

Administration

  • Maintain travel-related inventories and expense records.
  • Coordinate with family office personnel and service providers.
  • Assist with personal shopping, gift sourcing, and bespoke requests.
  • Support ad hoc personal and household requirements as directed.

Candidate ProfileEssential Experience

  • Minimum 4–10 years of experience as a Butler within:
  • UHNW private households
  • Royal households
  • Private estates
  • Luxury yachts
  • Five-star luxury hotels or palaces
  • Proven experience travelling extensively with Principals or VIP families.
  • Strong understanding of international etiquette, protocol, and luxury service standards.

Qualifications

  • Professional Butler certification from recognised institutions (preferred).
  • Hospitality or Hotel Management qualification is advantageous.
  • Formal training in silver service, wine service, and protocol is desirable.

Travel Requirements

This position involves frequent international travel, particularly throughout Europe, with flexibility to travel at short notice.

Due to the nature of the role and the requirement for unrestricted travel across multiple European countries, preference will be given to candidates holding a valid European passport or citizenship that permits visa-free travel within the Schengen Area.
