Traveling Service Technician (Black Mountain, NC)

Job Description: Service Technician

Job Summary: The Service Technician is responsible for supporting the maintenance, repair, and installation of specialized environmental control units at client facilities. During the initial training phase, the Technician will acquire comprehensive technical knowledge and practical experience required to perform general maintenance, minor service tasks, and installations. This role serves as a vital assistant on large-scale projects and requires an average of 75% travel to various customer sites.

Reporting Structure: Reports to the Lead Technician, Service Coordinator, and Service Manager.

Qualifications

  • Licensing: Possession of a current Type 1 Refrigeration License, or a commitment to obtain licensure within a specified timeframe.
  • Technical Aptitude: Strong general mechanical knowledge and hands-on technical capabilities.
  • Collaboration: Demonstrated ability to take direction effectively and contribute to a high-performing team environment.
  • Adaptability: Flexibility to work varied shifts and adjust to evolving work schedules.
  • Travel: Ability and willingness to travel for extended periods as required by project demands.

Essential Functions

The Service Technician travels to client locations to ensure the operational integrity of refrigeration equipment through precise service and installation. Key expectations include:

  • Maintaining a professional appearance and demeanor at all times.
  • Providing exceptional face-to-face customer service and professional communication.
  • Ensuring punctual arrival at all scheduled job sites.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Field Operations: Assist in the on-site installation, diagnostic repair, maintenance, and testing of equipment.
  • Technical Communication: Promptly identify and communicate technical errors or malfunctions to senior staff.
  • Reporting: Provide detailed, timely feedback to the Lead Technician and adhere to all field service schedules.
  • Compliance: Strictly follow company protocols, safety procedures, and organizational standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Team Integration: Cooperate with the technical team and facilitate information sharing across the organization to improve service quality.
  • Safety & Asset Management: Operate company vehicles safely and maintain a personal professional tool kit (including wrenches, screwdrivers, drills, etc.) in good working order.
  • Client Relations: Build and maintain positive, long-term relationships with customers through reliable service.

Compensation & Logistics

  • Travel Support: This position involves significant travel. Compensation includes a daily per diem according to company policy.
  • Location: Based out of the Black Mountain, NC facility.

Pay: $22.00 - $25.00 per hour
